MBX ACADEMY
The Music Box Academy will focus on bringing quality education surrounding the business of music to students in the targeted age range of 18-24. The technology and resources available to us in the modern age have put the power of music creation, marketing, distribution, and promotion into the hands of the artist, and we will teach our students how to effectively use those tools to launch a career for themselves in the music industry. Classes will be held twice a year (for 8-12 weeks each) in the spring and fall, with a potential shorter and more focused summer session. The scope of the curriculum is based around 5 key pillars: Music Production, Live Audio and Lighting Engineering, Music Business, Branding, and Leadership Growth. Each class will be fully hands-on, with access to all the technology that facilitates recording, live sound and lights, and creative branding.
MBX ARTIST DEVELOPMENT
Every year, we will hold an open-casting call for singer/songwriters, artists or bands to submit an application to be considered for our special artist development program. We aim to cultivate talent, elevating potential and encouraging growth, and in doing so we will see actual change in the landscape of music in our city. We must be intentional about giving artists a voice, about providing a space and the professional support to truly become what they could be, instead of just settling for what they see around them in the Nebraska music scene. We can build a much bigger future for artists by setting them up for success, and by giving them the tools they need to create space for themselves in a crowded industry.
