Every year, we will hold an open-casting call for singer/songwriters, artists or bands to submit an application to be considered for our special artist development program.
Each artist must submit an example of their work (via mp3, video, or an in-person live performance) and will be considered to be one of 5 artists selected for the calendar year. This initiative is so important for a thriving musical community in Lincoln. If we are not cultivating talent, elevating potential and encouraging growth, we will not see actual change in the landscape of music in our city. It will be the same as it ever was, and this change must happen on purpose. We must be intentional about giving artists a voice, about providing a space and the professional support to truly become what they could be, instead of just settling for what they see around them in the Nebraska music scene.
We can build a much bigger future for artists by setting them up for success, and by giving them the tools they need to create space for themselves in a crowded industry.
We’ve been developing our own projects for over 20 years and have experience engaging with record labels, distribution services, have run successful merchandising for our own projects and sold well over $2M in music and merchandise, and have booked over a thousand concerts. Our experience in this space will be invaluable to artists looking to gain traction in any of those areas. We will leverage all our own experience to help the next generation of artists come into their full potential.
If an artist is accepted into our program, we will be providing all the following services.
We will partner with local Photographers, Videographers, branding and merchandise experts to facilitate the full vision, and each artist will be featured on our website and social media. We also plan to continue partnership with local music festivals to feature our artists during festival season. Our main collaboration has been with Crossroads Music Festival, a world music festival, and have seen great success there. We would love to expand our collaborations to the other festivals hosted here as well.
MusicBox will be a home for all kinds of performance and educational events. Some of these events will be curated by anyone with a membership, and others will be hosted by the MBX team. Here are some of the possible event types
